What Does this ultrasonographic Examination Result Mean?
I was examined for ultrasonographic examination of the lower abdemen. Rt and Lt kidney is normal. Urinary bladder-echogenic mass with distal acoustic shadowing seen. Prostate: measures 49/25/49mm. App wt-31gms Cap - intact. Echopattern is relatively homogenous. Res Vol-72ml (significant) Please advise me whether it is curable by medicines or shall I be operated Please advise me free of of cost as my ATM card is not working
1. The kidneys are normal in appearance and not a concern.
2. There is something like a stone or debris in the urinary bladder. It needs further assessment and action. If it is a stone, the dimensions and location are important to be known and also if there is any urinary retention. If it is debris then this might related to bladder infection and requires treatment with antibiotics.
3. The prostate is mildly enlarged at 31 grams and the normal upper value is 25 grams. This is mild prostate enlargement and is causing little retention of urine as can be seen from the ultrasound report. It should first be treated with medications and followed up after 3 months by doing another ultrasound scan to look for decrease in size. Please do not worry about operation as medications are always given for few months and most patients respond to it.
